[ a smile curves his lips as he reads his device where it sits by the stove. he picks it up and turns around to lean against the counter. then he flashes an OK sign. he's ready for storytime!!! ]

[morphogenia]

[Kamala grins and gets to typing. She's still so hyped.] Okay so let's get the terrible part out of the way. Yes, I did run into a storm to see if anyone was outside and ran into like literal axe murderers trying to kill the new arrivals. Some people definitely know I have superpowers because obviously I wasn't going to let them die so I can keep a secret. It's not worth someone's life!

Anyways, fun parts: I totally held my own against those guys! I got to rescue people which is the best use of superpowers in my opinion. Best part: I TEAMED UP WITH AN AVENGER!!! Scarlet Witch is here! Isn't that amazing???

[oorah]

[ axe murderers?? he picked a hell of a time to finally nap. he nods once he thinks she's done with the first bit. but there's always more with kamala. he doesn't know that one, but they've already established he knows like two of them by name. ] yeah sweetheart, really cool

[ frank gestures for her to sit at the table so he can serve her soup and juice then sit down across from her quietly. there is obvious soundproofing all around, he'd prioritized the kitchen over the rest of the house for obvious reasons. ]

[morphogenia]

[Kamala sets her device down once she's taken a seat. She tries not to talk when it's unnecessary. There's always that thought in the back of her head that the time she talks will be the time something happens. She quickly gets over it. There's no devices at the table back home so she switches to plain talking.]

Thanks so much! [She smiles gratefully for the food, offers a quick prayer, before going to town on it.] So I've got to do a thing soon.

[So specific, Kamala. Sorry she's eating everything.]

[ he's patient as ever, hands clasped on the table as he watches her eat. ]

What kind of a thing?

[morphogenia]

Well the people I rescued didn't tell anyone about my powers online, which is awesome, but there's another problem.

[She takes a long sip of her drink and fiddles with her utensil as she goes on. Kamala doesn't look him in the eye which is pretty unusual for her.] All that fighting took a lot out of me because I didn't have the stuff I do back home to help conserve some of my energy. I need to get it recreated which means hinting that I'm a weirdo with messed up DNA and exposure to weird stuff I don't really understand? I think it will be fine? But, I just have horrible flashbacks to every awful thing they do to people like me in my head. It's hard not be a little... concerned.

[Scared which is why she isn't looking at him. She doesn't want him to see it.]

[oorah]

You think Micro could figure it out? [ he glances towards the bedroom, where the man is currently laid up with the vaccine blues. and he doesn't actually think this is a bad idea, even if he'd be too paranoid himself to post to the network that way. ]

Look. You know if anyone hassles you it'll be the last thing they ever do. [ casual threats are how to show love right??? ]

[morphogenia]

Pretty sure he could. I know what I need and how Bruno made the stuff. The question is if I can get it and if I can get someone to help me fix the design flaw in it. His invention isn't waterproof and so far I've only fought when it's raining. I had to take the suit off to protect what I do have after the natives messed with it!

[Kamala groans. She really hates this. Life was easier when Bruno helped solve all her problems.

She meets his eyes at that, nodding slowly. It actually is a comfort to have a giant man on your side even when he's constantly flocked by children and cute dogs.] I know. They have to get through you first. I really appreciate that you let me rely on you so much. It's just... I don't want to go through that again, okay? Even if I could just hide behind you the whole time.

[oorah]

You won't have to. [ he sounds confident, like always. ]

[morphogenia]

[Like always his confidence reassures her. Kamala smiles brightly back at him.] Yeah... I should stop worrying about that stuff. It took awhile for the axe murderers to show up. I definitely have time to make preparations and let you make scary faces at any people who give me a hard time for being a weirdo with superpowers.

[oorah]

[ he can't hold her gaze for long when she smiles like that, looking down and away. ] My scary faces are real convincing. [ just saying ]

[morphogenia]

I totally believe they are. [She says it so breezily. Kamala forgets he can be scary 90% of the time. She continues to eat and ramble.] Even though the circumstances suck, it's nice that apparently a bunch of superheroes from our world showed up! Maybe it won't be on you guys so much anymore with some Avengers around.

[She hopes so. It hasn't escaped her notice that he's taken so much on with the people or rather adults closest to him. Sometimes she wishes she was older and more useful since seeing him so tired makes her sad... which is why she jumps onto another positive thing.] Plus I'm going to get so many selfies for my collection. It's going to be epic!

[oorah]

[ he feels sick. yeah, avengers. they're not going to do anything about kilgrave or the sound eaters. that will always fall to him and jess. but he can let her have her moment, right? she's still a kid. she has heroes. heroes that definitely don't include him with real ones present. frank nods slowly, sure these people can at least take selfies with a fan right? can he trust them that far? ]

I'm happy for you.

[morphogenia]

[The problem with Kamala is she's smarter than she lets on. The fact that he doesn't look relieved says a lot. Kamala frowns at him, leaning forward as she tries to address what she thinks is going on here.] You know just because they're here doesn't mean I'll forget the people who have been there for us this whole time, right? It's fun meeting people you look up to, but you wouldn't replace your dad with a celebrity.

[oorah]

[ people really need to stop calling him dad. he looks queasy for a moment, then swallows it back. change the subject, go for something lighter. it isn't his strong suit, but he tries anyway. ] How's the soup?

[morphogenia]

Amazing! [Kamala says without skipping a beat. She actually was just using 'dad' as an example earlier rather than calling him that, but she doesn't catch her mistake bc Kamala.]

I hope you don't mind me constantly scamming you out of food like this. Your cooking is way better than mine.

[oorah]

[ one side of his mouth quirks up and he shakes his head. ] I don't mind, sweetheart. [ it's a drop in the bucket, but it's about all he can do around here so he may as well keep people fed. ] How's the house?

[morphogenia]

[Kamala hesitates which should tell him everything. They have drama.] Well some of the new roommates I love! They're very cute and sweet, but the others...

[She sighs loudly.] They're kind of a mess. Like to give you an example? One of them actually told me he wasn't going to eat my soul because it was pure. Who says that to someone?? Seriously! It makes you sound like a serial killer. Also I can't decide if it's creepy to look at someone's soul without permission or not. What do you think?

[oorah]

Uh. [ that's all he's got for a long moment. he'd seen that guy's post but had no idea he was living in the house he'd left behind. the one he'd naively thought would be sanctuary. of course it went to chaos the second he'd left, that's the nature of these things, isn't it? ] Definitely creepy.

[ like was that even in question?? this is why kamala worries him so much. which is why he offers what he does next. ] If that place ever gets too much for you, you know you've always got a spot here. [ he just wants her to be safe, and under his roof she would be. even if only for a night or two at a time. ]

[morphogenia]

I will if it ever gets too intense around there. [Aka last resort. Kamala may want to eat his cooking forever, but she doesn't want to impose on him anymore than she already does.] It's funny when you think about it. I worried so much about being an Inhuman getting my roommates into trouble, but then he advertises he wants to eat souls like no one is ever going to get mad about that!

[She sighs loudly.] I guess he can't help it any more than I can. It's not like anyone asked either of us if we wanted to be this way.

[oorah]

Even if it's just for a day. [ he shrugs, she gets the picture. he won't push. he didn't give much thought to the soul-eating demon before, but she does have a point. everyone here is the way they are. if frank didn't already feel outnumbered by "freaks" he sure would right now. he's only a product of the sum of his choices, often bad. often wrong. but always with the sting of personal righteousness behind them. people like kamala and leo were different. they were changed; victims of circumstance. like jessica, like luke. he swallows. ]

As long as you're sure he isn't gonna hurt you.

[morphogenia]

[Kamala nods and resumes eating. She's nearly done if only because inhaling Frank's food is basically impossible not to do.] I'm positive he won't. He was brutally honest about the whole thing. He only wants murderers and rapists. I guess he figures if this is the way he has to be, he'll use it for something good. "Purge the world" is how he put it.

[Frankly she was reminded of the Punisher after that speech. She wisely keeps that to herself.]

[oorah]

[ frank can't hold her gaze when she goes on because yes, it's pretty damn familiar. he thinks of the argument he'd had with matt the second he'd come out of the ground. jessica telling him not to go after kilgrave. even if he's never been the punisher here, that guy is still him. he's still driving frank's actions, whether he admits it or not. ]

I should probably steer clear of him then. [ he's got a body count higher than a lot of baddies here, including kilgrave probably. and that guy had the luxury of never doing anything with his own two hands. frank had killed every one of those people personally, up close and. ]

[morphogenia]

[Kamala lowers her gaze for once and nods meekly. She didn't want to say it aloud, but that's what she was getting at.] That's what I was going to suggest. I don't know what he sees exactly and why he sees it. I'm willing to bet your reasons won't matter. He'll kill you to survive. If he does that, polymer or not, he'll have to deal with me and it'll probably get ugly since I think he's pretty powerful. He didn't even seem a little worried when I warned him people might show up at the house to attack him for making a post like that.

[She shrugs.] Then again so am I when I actually want to be. Still, let's not find out! It's not like any of us can go all out here because of the sound eaters.

[She'll just finish her juice on that very cheery thought.]

We're not gonna go there, sweetheart. [ well, at least until will asks him to in a few days from now :') ] You know you don't have to protect me, right? [ she's technically a lot more powerful than him, sure, but he's still an adult. he should be caring for her, not the other way around. ]
