[ he feels like he should say even if it's completely extraneous. he knows jessica isn't going to take off on him, for once in his life he's actually pretty solid in what they are to each other. it's a strange feeling. altogether, it won't take him long to ransack the inn for a few snacks and a little jar of sam's moonshine though he's sure jess already has some. he's still scared she might be going through withdrawal symptoms and so is even more of an enabler than usual.
bruno in his little coat heralds frank's arrival more than the man himself. despite his heavy, lumbering gait the man makes no noise as he approaches. someone got his soundproofed boots for new years. thanks observers. (wtf) he's wearing the ugly ass hotdog sweater billy made him also, and no, he doesn't care that it's christmas themed. ]
Here. [ he tosses her a bag of homemade bread with only a few slices left like she's a bird before slotting in next to her while the little croc-dog sniffs at her ankles. ]

The loudest announcement that Frank's here is that godawful sweater. Jess sneers, then winces at spark of pain across her cheekbone. She catches the bag in both hands. ] Thanks, neighbor. [ Super obscure Mr Rogers ref? He's the only sweater guy she knows. The only decent one. ]

What happened there?

Teenage rebellion. [ She looks back at him, watching him work it out. Her bubble is either on the fritz or Jess didn't feel the necessary defensive instinct to activate it. She's partly to blame, on top of all the other stuff that is definitely her fault. ]

Fuck. [ kamala hit and punched him, sure, but that's like punching a brick wall. she knows she can't hurt him. jessica is... jessica. he worries his lip and turns it over and over, blaming himself just as surely as jess does, unsurprisingly. ] She shouldn't have done that.
[ he manages to look back over at her- ] You OK? [ less of a physical inquiry this time, but he doesn't specify. ]

I told her everything. [ The Jessica version of everything. The tentpole facts with none of the emotional justification or repercussions. If she doesn't know more than Frank now, they're roughly even. Jess isn't that transparent with anybody except her sister. ] She wants me to stay. [ Listlessly, to the tone of the airquotes she's too lazy to do. ] So we can 'work through this'.

Do you wanna stay? [with us he thinks goes without saying. ]
no subject
Yeah. [ She wants to keep her hermit house as an exit strategy, goes without saying. As does the 'nothing personal.' ] I do.

[ he makes it sound easy though he doesn't really believe it will be.but he does think they'll do it in the end, because what other choice do they have? no one else gives a fuck about them. ]
I think I should stay out of the house for a day or two, let her cool down.

What do you think I'm doing here? [ Copycat. The isolation it itself is welcome after three days of barely restrained social dysfunction. No kids, no animals, usually. She can drink in peace. She'll get up and grab her bottle off one of the consoles in a minute. Occupying her level, he's the warmest thing down here and she sorta missed him, besides. ]

Forgot I brought you something else.

I'm gonna take that as a good thing.

No more fire hands?

[ but he doesn't want to move so he doesn't, using his knife and the flintstone to light his own particular vice with practiced ease even as a spark flies to the ground and narrowly misses their sleeping friend. ]

Grab me the souped up healing while you're there. [ jk, obvi. she fishes into the bread bag to tear off a chunk and pop it in her mouth. ]
