[Kamala finally peels her hand off now that it's clearly warm and lets it go back to its normal size.] I mean seriously! Don't ever scare me like that again, okay? All beat ups need to take place in the designated 'beat up Frank' place aka the gym where you can easily get medical attention if something goes wrong. You can't give me heart attacks just because my heart will immediately heal afterwards! It's super rude.
[ once her hand is off, he looks down at the ground, but he's listening to everything she says, internalizing it. he's not on his own anymore, he has to take care of himself for karen and kamala. it's a harder concept than it should be. ]
I promise, OK? [ he might break it, but right now he means it sincerely. ]
[Kamala stares at him, very clearly judging his sincerity. She must like what she sees because she nods in approval.] Good because I'm holding you to it. Because when something bad happens, like actual bad and not some dumb fight that won't even matter in a week, don't think I'll be wringing my hands and crying about how important my secrets are while you bleed out on the floor or something. I care about you way more than what anyone thinks of me.
[Including her parents and brother. She knows deep down if they couldn't accept the new Kamala that they aren't who she thinks they are. Their disapproval would be the least of her concerns at that point.]
[She meets his eyes in order to impress this upon on him.] I know, but if there's one thing becoming me taught me is that we have no control over that. I didn't ask for some crazy man to literally invent a creature that would kidnap or gaslight kids into coming with him so he could power his inventions with them. It just happened and I had the power to stop it so I did. It's going to the same way whenever we find out what that lady was trying to save the world from or whoever brought us here brings someone who will want to hurt us.
[Because she hasn't forgotten about that for a minute. There's going to be reckoning one way or another. Kamala knows she'll be caught in the middle of it because she could never look away and say it's someone else's problem.] I want to be honest with you about what's coming because I care about you. You deserve to be prepared for what I'll have to do because no one else is getting that luxury from me. They just have to deal with however that makes them feel when that time comes.
[ he's clearly weighing her every word, nodding when it gets to the big part. it takes him a full moment to process everything, but then understanding dawns over his torn-up face. ]
