it's not a fighting fort
i mean i guess unless you want it to be
can we wrestle tomorrow i'm tired

it can definitely be a fighting fort okay
it'll muffle the sound too since there's a lot of cotton to go around

we could nap together

[ it hurts a ridiculous amount but he doesn't let on as ever. ]

[ that's harder. but he's getting there. ] you on your way?

[ just give him a few minutes, he's on his way ]

i brought something for you and mom

[oorah]

[ frank is in the foyer with max, as per usual. ] doors open

[nishizono]

[ he slips right in and crouches to his knees the minute he sees frank and max in the foyer. as expected, he goes for the dog first. ]

Hey they, hot stuff. Who's the most handsome dog in Reims, huh?

Hi, Dad.

[oorah]

[ he grins at the exchange, but as ever accepts his greeting late. he punches tetora in the arm affectionately and moves back towards the kitchen so they can talk. the overnight bag the boy is toting is an emotional sight for him, something he tries to cover up by disappearing deeper into the room. ]

You want tea or coffee?

[nishizono]

Coffee. Tea is for mom.

[ tetora doesn't let frank get too far, as he lifts max and baby-carries the dog in his arms while walking in. he remembers to toe off his shoes, so as not to track any dirt inside the house, nibbling on max's ear all the while he's walking in.

don't dwell too much on it. ]

You doing okay? You really look tired.

[oorah]

[ he smiles at that and goes to make them coffee. even as he rolls his eyes fondly at the gangly teen carrying a fucking pitbull across his house. if it were anyone else, he's pretty sure max wouldn't have tolerated it either. his ear twitches when tet chews on it but that's about the only reaction he has to the whole ordeal.

frank turns back towards him just in time to catch the sign. he's always tired, he's never okay. but that's not something he can say to tetora even when they've shared so much. ] I'm OK. You OK?

[nishizono]

[ a quick kiss nets tetora a slobbery lick under the jaw, and he finally sets the dog down on the floor to let him scamper off to his owner. tetora feels good about carrying the dog, but less so about the wetness quickly drying into a tacky stripe on his jaw. he wipes it off with the back of a sleeve, then falls in step with frank all the way to the kitchen, where he leans against the counter to watch the man make coffee.

it smells good, of course. tetora doesn't care much for the taste, but the smell is something he could like. ]

Been better. Could be worse. I asked N-I-L-L out on a date.

[oorah]

[ frank has his hands full with the coffee but he watches tetora's hands, concealing a smile as he puts the dog down. he wants to make a joke about 'better,' but neither of them really have the luxury. and the next part captures all of his attention in any case. he fumbles with the french press, nearly knocking it over as his brain slowly catches up to what tetora said, his heart beating fast. logically, he knows this boy is not his son. that under any normal circumstances, this shouldn't matter to him. but he puts down the coffee maker and signs almost desperately to get clarification. ]

Did you just say D-A-T-E? [ say it ain't so. my boy's growin up :'( ]
