[ their fingers brush and he takes a sip of his own tea, savoring the warmth that seeps through tired muscles and bones. he doesn't mind the silence as much anymore; the urge to fill it has gotten less and less over the weeks that he's been in reims and he's waiting for the day when it'll leave him entirely. the thought doesn't bother him as much as it should, and maybe that says more about him than anything else.

they head over to the corner of the garage that david has turned into his workshop space, flips open a notepad to show frank a sketch of a table and a sign below it that reads "info booth". ]

Thought we might as well help some of the new kids that come in.

[ frank traces his a finger over the plan and looks up at david, still holding his cup aloft protectively. it's a sound idea even if he is deeply exhausted from putting himself out there already. but he nods again, drawing his hand away as he takes a sip. ]

We should put a cover on it. In case it rains.

[gaits]

Yeah. Like Lucy's booth.

[ except a lot less cute, but they're trying. he props the notepad up and pulls out some of the plywood he saved earlier, and if it looks familiar, that's because it's the same one he used to knock frank out with.

after a while of silent working, he finally speaks up again. ]

I know you've got a lot of stuff you're working on, so... you don't have to worry about this, okay? It's just to give me something else to do.

[ he nods, he had more or less pictured a similar thing. but to see the schematics for it... this is really going to happen. just like everything else they set their minds to. when david speaks again, frank reaches out with his free hand to grab the man's arm, his gaze deep and serious. ]

Come on, I'll help. I want to. [ it'll go a lot faster with him helping. micro is brilliant but he never was good at 'getting his hands dirty,' as sarah would say. though much better since he met frank. he offers a soft smile before draining the rest of his coffee cup and rolling up his sleeves in anticipation of getting to work. ]

[gaits]

I know, I just -- [ he cuts himself off, tries to figure out a better way to put it but in the end he just shrugs a little. a corner of his mouth twitches up in a brief, resigned smile. ] Yeah.

[ david has never been good at getting his hands dirty, but he's come a long way since meeting frank. once they have the framework down, the rest comes together fairly quickly, and david adds the finishing touches to the sign before stepping back to admire their work. ]

[ frank lets it go and loses himself in the work. it isn't a big project and with both of them working on it it goes quickly. when it's done he takes a step back too and puts his hands on his waist before offering up a nod to david's inquiry. ]
