[Kara feels so guilty about what she's wrapped up in now - she wants to help people; she wants to keep everyone here safe. But she's deeply not sure if she's on the right side or not. So, with all of that swarming around in her head, she sends Frank a short, simple text.]

Sorry I didn't make it last night.

[ it wasn't like her to not make it anywhere, he didn't think. but he had gone to the theater alone with a book and staked it out. nothing happened. a part of him thought (and maybe hoped) she had found better friends here. it's slowly coming to him that the truth might be worse. ]

[that's honestly surprising. Kara's not sure she expected they'd see something,
but she hoped, in a way. They still need answers, and most of what she's been able to read (not much since agreeing to be side-by-side with Kilgrave) had barely mentioned the theatre except to mention how grandiose it was.]

You shouldn't have stayed out there by yourself. It's not safe to be alone here.

she stares at the rest of his message, chewing on her lip. She doesn't have long of this "free" time, claiming she's keeping tabs on Jessica when she's... not. Not when she owes her friend an apology.

I guess he did, huh? You're not going to... confront him or anything, are you?

[not that she still knows much about Frank but he seems, well... more than capable and the last thing she wants to do is fight him.]

[oh gosh, she's made a terrible mistake. well, a list of them, but apologizing to Frank right now is just the latest of terrible mistakes.]

[he doesn't got it. Kara's more sure of this than she is of anything else.]

[she shoves her free hand in her hair, pulling just to relieve some of her tension. What the heck is she supposed to say to get him to... oh, it sounds ridiculous, but to get him to stand down?]

[oh crap. she knows what she has to say. she only hopes this will work.]

Frank, I have superpowers, okay? I go by Supergirl on my Earth. I'm the one who saves the day there. Kilgrave can't hurt me. I promise. Please don't try to save the day or do anything crazy like that. I'm just trying to keep the peace. Don't get yourself killed!

[After Eleven finishes offering herself up to help with the Kilgrave problem Jessica's presented, she makes a beeline straight toward house six. She just lets herself in and looks around before eventually ending up trying to get into the garage. She's really worked up, tears and trembling and everything, so he better be there!!]

[oorah]

[ he's been tracking jessica's post carefully. he's worried eleven might do something stupid. the rattle at his door startles him, and he goes to answer it immediately, not wanting whoever it is to make more noise. if it's someone kilgrave got to, well then so be it. he peels back the door silently and frowns, certainly not expecting to see the one person he's most worried about now. he ushers her inside, past the makeshift fighting arena and the giant fucking skull he painted on the wall. this is kind of innappropriate for children huh??? there's dried blood on the mat and maybe also on his jumpsuit. his face looks worse not better than when she'd seen it before, parts of his bruising yellowing with age but there's fresh, red bruises too.

there's something like a curtain that separates the "dojo" space from the tiny space where his bed and bookshelf reside. there's a book open on his bed. he frowns at her like what happened. ]

[waffler]

[Frank, what in the hell is your life? Why is there a skull on the wall? Why is there blood? Why are there more bruises?? Eleven just stares at all of it in mild horror because he needs someone to keep an eye on him. She almost misses that look he gives her at first, because she's too busy reaching up to gently touch at his face and fuss over the fact there's more bruises there. But she catches a little of that look and since they're in a house and she's apparently doing what she wants she blurts out in a hushed whisper,]

Bad men are here.

[oorah]

[ he gently pushes her hand away and crouches down. she doesn't get to be worried about him right now. in an even softer whisper, he asks: ] Where?

[waffler]

[he pushes her hand away and she looks momentarily hurt. Is he rejecting her? But no, he crouches down and speaks to her and she keeps her eyes on his. ]

Kilgrave.

[That's his name. She has no idea where he is, except a general "here".]

I said I would help.

[oorah]

[ oh god all his worst fears are coming true. must be a tuesday. frank shakes his head vehemently, putting a large hand on her shoulder. ]

You can't, sweetheart. [ he bites into the inside of his lip. he knows he has to be blunt with her, treat her like an adult. all he wants to do is shelter her instead. frank motions for her to stay so he can get his device. they're close to having a real conversation and that's a bad idea too. he comes back quickly, kneeling in front of her and showing her his words. ]

you're too strong - he can use you to hurt a lot of people. do you understand?

[waffler]

[She smiles and relaxes when he calls her sweetheart. Something about him has just clicked with her, and she feels a sense of closeness with him like she does with Hopper. He can't replace Hopper, but he's special in his own different, fatherly way. It makes her heed his words a little more strongly than she might someone else. She hesitantly nods at what she reads but pushes his device away.

Strong, she signs using the native visual language. His device should be able to translate it for him, but she also mouths each word silently so he'll be able to read her lips. While people think she's not watching, she's been keeping a close eye on the natives and learning from the other children. She's a fast learner when she wants to be.

I fight, her hands work quickly but clumsily. Not afraid. Protect you.]

[oorah]

[ he's been paying attention to the natives too, picking up words here and there. he understands strong, he looks to his device to make sure he understands the rest. now is not the time for misinterpretations. frank is disappointed by their meaning, reading them several times before attempting to craft a response she might understand. ]

i'm strong too. not like you. i can't be a weapon again. not for him.
but if we work together we can stop him. you have to trust me. can you do that?

[ he holds the device back up, his expression pleading. if kilgrave gets a hold of eleven he isn't sure what he'll have to do, but he knows it will be terrible. he hopes she listens so they can avoid that. ]

[waffler]

[Her hands form into little fists that hang angrily at her side. She feels a momentary burst of anger that comes out of her in a wave of telekinetic energy that shoves against him and the things around them. Of course it creates rustling noises, but she doesn't scream at him. That's progress. Her nose bleeding because of what she's just done isn't new, however. She just lets it trickle and tries to figure out if he really wants to work with her or if this is what Hopper does when he just wants her to stay put and does what he tells her to do.

She stares him down for a while before eventually nodding, stumbling forward as she dips her head in shame. Only stopping when she bumps against him, she rests her forehead on his shoulder. She can be dangerous for him too, even if she'd never want to hurt him. ]

Yes.

[She barely whispers her answer, and her voice cracks with emotion. Work together. She can do that.]
